lets catch up

 Bentley wasn't quite sure why Liam was being so nice. He knew he hated Penny. But of course, the girl kept smiling hoping she'd get lucky. 

Bentley chuckled softly. It would not be possible.

They let Penny alone with the chocolate. She planned to make drinkable chocolate.

"What's up bro?" Bentley took him to the side as if he could complain about this Penny all he wanted, but she was great in the kitchen and easy on the eyes.

"It's nothing." Liam was closed-lip as if he would take care of whatever was bothering him.

"Are you sure?" Ben winced wanting to help a friend if he could. There was only so much he could do with Penny. He knew all her tricks by now, but he had to act as if he was waiting for the unexpected.

Liam let out a sigh.

"This thing, you know..what Penny said..about Sadie in the graphic novel..." Ben couldn't help but ponder. "Could it be true?"

"What?" Liam looked at him as if he'd lost it.

"You know, like a past life..or something?"

"Or something?" Liam told him Penny was a nutcase. There was no need to believe anything that girl said. Ben was certain, Liam had other things on his mind, but naturally, he wouldn't say.

"I wish you'd..just talk to me. Explain to me..what's really going on." Ben tried to laugh, but wasn't quite there. This whole life with Mannie was slightly annoying him. After all, he was doing his best to make the most with Penny.

"Do any of us really know what's going on?" Liam's smart mouth always made him wiser than he probably was, thought Ben.

"Is that code or something?"

"Kid, you don't know the half of it." Liam's dead stare made Ben just a little woozy. He didn't know if he wanted to know anything. Just then, Penny came up from behind him, and put her arms around him.

Bentley couldn't help but smile all over, maybe something in the chocolate made Penny intoxicated.
